I wrote this a few years ago, but it’s still relevant today.
You’ve heard it said so many times, step out of it and do more. Be more. But God gave you
something that you are comfortable and conversant with for a reason. Have you exhausted that
reason? Have you excelled in that place of comfort? Have you mastered the zone and done all that
you need to doandmore?
Sometimes, we end up being lazy with the things we are comfortable at instead of letting that be the
things that God blesses us with. For example, you’re an excellent cook, you can cook up a storm
and feed the hungry with very little, but you decide to step out of your comfort zone and go and
take up acting and everyday you are struggling and praying for financial breakthrough. Yet, you
have everything in you to start and own a successful restaurant but instead you want to step out of
your comfort zone….
Now that’s just one example but I have seen this play out in so many ways. When God wants to
bless you and expand you, He always starts with what is in your hand not what you have to go and
get and learn or look for. He expands what is already inside of you and inside your home. He is that
kind. But we make the mistake of not giving any value to what we have or recognising the worth of
it, we think- it’s just a little oil, just a little flour, what can 5 loaves and 2 small fish do?
Today, I’m here to remind you about what you have. Place value in it. It may be small, it may be
comfortable, it may be easy but God gave it to you so you can master it, use it and bring glory to
His name. He can do so much with so little and you don’t even have to be stressed out in the
process. God is that kind. He is that loving. He is that strategic.
Choose to be effective, efficient, excellent in your comfort zone first before thinking about stepping
out. There is greatness within much bigger than without. Start with little and be faithful and see if
Godwon’t bless you with much!
Just because you’re comfortable in it doesn’t mean you are excellent at it. Jumping out can lead to
mediocrity…. Master your zone! Selah!
