“Everyone is doing it.”
“There are already too many people doing the same thing.”
Have you ever caught yourself saying those words? Or maybe you have not said them aloud, but they have whispered their way into your heart every time God stirred a dream inside you. A vision. A calling. An idea that lingered long after you tried to dismiss it. And just when you were about to move, insecurity came knocking and said you were too late.
We live in a world full of noise and comparison. It is tempting to copy someone else’s blueprint when we feel lost about our own. But the truth is, imitation may gain applause for a moment, yet only authenticity can bear fruit that lasts.
God does not anoint copies. He anoints originals.
What He breathed into you is not a recycled version of someone else’s calling. It is a divine imprint, uniquely designed for the people, the season, and the purpose assigned to you. If you try to walk in someone else’s shoes, you will only end up with blisters. You were never meant to fit their path.
Tesco sells milk. So does Asda. Morrisons does too. Sainsbury’s is still open. And the little corner shop down the road? It is still in business. Somehow, despite all selling the same item, each of them continues to serve their customers and make a profit.
Why? Because not everyone shops in the same place. Not everyone is looking for the same thing. Some go for cost, some for quality, some for convenience and every store has its regulars. You will too. So don’t ever think the market is too crowded to do what God has called you to do. Do it.
You are not here to replace someone else, you are here to reveal what only you can carry. What God has given you has value. It has weight and it has purpose.
Your voice matters. Your gift matters. Your story matters. You matter.
Galatians 6:4 reminds us, “ Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.”
You are not in competition. You are in obedience. Run your race. Stay in your lane. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of your faith.
And if it feels slow? Let it be slow. Do not rush the process. You are not behind. You are not too late. You are not too small. God is not looking for speed, He is looking for surrender.
Success is not found in mimicking someone else’s light. It is found in being faithful with your own.
So write the book you were born to write. Sing the song no one else can sing. Preach the sermon that flows from your calling. Build the business that solves a problem you were created to see. Dream again. Create again. Hope again.
Your assignment does not need to look like theirs, your obedience is what heaven is waiting for.
With love,
Amanda
