Why Empower A Woman?

Vulnerable women who lack self-sufficiency become, at a minimum, dependent on charity, or benefits. They may lose their self-confidence because they cannot be fully self-supporting. The opportunities denied them also deprive them of the pride of accomplishment which others, who have those opportunities, can develop for themselves. This in turn can lead to psychological, social and even mental health problems.

To empower a woman also includes encouraging, and developing the skills for, self-sufficiency, with a strong focus on eliminating the future need for charity or benefit.

EQUIP

To Equip means to supply with the necessary items for a particular purpose or prepare (someone) mentally for a particular situation or task.

We understand the need to do both and thats why we run the Shine Women course as well as provide mentoring and support to all the women we work with.

The Shine Women course provides a solid foundation from which any woman can rebuild her life and take control of her future through understanding her value and purpose.

ENABLE

To Enable means to to make able; give power, means, competence, or ability.

We do all of the above by sponsoring women (providing the finances) to start a small business, undertake training, to learn a new skill or craft that will lead to sustainable employment.

We would prefer that all the women we sponsor are equipped through the Shine Women course first (or another similar course). This helps us ensure that the women are mentally and emotionally equipped to start and maintain their new business or adult education that may lead to sustainable employment.

EMPOWER

To Empower means to give (someone) the authority or power to do something and also to make (someone) stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights.

A woman who is confident, understands her value and is ready and willing to put in the effort to make the necessary changes in her life, who also had the relevant training, mentoring and the financial support to enable to fulfil her dreams is an unstoppable woman – she is an Empowered woman!
