We are living in a time when everything pulls at us. Work, deadlines, family, phone notifications, commitments, even good things can become distractions. If we are not careful, we can go through an entire day without truly slowing down to be with God.

That’s why we need to be intentional about where we dwell.

Psalm 91:1 says, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

It doesn’t say whoever visits or passes by. It says dwells.

This is an open invitation. Not just for pastors, prophets, or people who look like they have it all together. It’s for whoever makes the decision to live close to God. The promise is rest, peace, safety, shelter, covering. But the condition is simple, we must dwell.

So what does it really mean to dwell?

  1. It means you make a choice

Dwelling is not automatic. You choose to be in God’s presence not only on Sundays, but daily. In prayer, worship, your thoughts, how you start your morning and how you end your night.

  1. It’s about consistent

Dwelling means staying, not just visiting. It’s not about one powerful moment with God. It’s about living in close friendship with Him, day by day. The secret place is not always a physical room. Sometimes it’s a quiet heart in the middle of a loud day.

  1. It’s a posture of the heart

When you dwell, your heart stays open to God. You create space for Him to guide your thoughts, shape your responses, and fill your life with His peace. You learn to pause, to listen, to be honest with Him. God loves a contrite heart.

Dwelling is not something you have to strive for. It’s something you grow into and with time, it becomes your lifestyle.

When life gets overwhelming, you won’t have to run around looking for peace. You’ll already be living in it. Because you’ve made your home in God. “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 Let that rest be your portion.

I pray that you will choose to dwell in Him, stay close to Him and let God be your home.

With Love,

Amanda
