In 1 Samuel 12, we find the prophet Samuel standing before the people of Israel, offering what many would call his farewell speech. Samuel, now an old man, looks out over the very people he has wept for, fought for, and led in faithfulness. He knows their story. He knows their failures and yet, in the midst of this closing moment, he speaks words that still echo with power today.
“ The Lord will not abandon his people, because that would dishonor his great name. For it has pleased the Lord to make you his very own people.” 1 Samuel 12:22 (NLT)
Let that truth settle into the places where doubt has been living. God will not abandon His people. He will not walk away when it gets hard. He will not grow tired of you or change His mind about you. He made a covenant with you, and He has attached His very name to it.
This isn’t just a nice thought to comfort you on a rough day. It’s a divine promise that holds weight in the courts of heaven. When God makes a declaration, He backs it with His own integrity. His name is His seal, and He cannot deny Himself.
Sometimes life makes us question who’s really in our corner. People walk away. Relationships shift. Promises are broken. But here is your anchor in the storm: the God who chose you has not changed His mind. It brought Him joy to call you His and He will never throw away what He so lovingly redeemed.
You might not feel Him right now. The silence may feel louder than any sermon you’ve ever heard. The battle may be fierce, and the road may feel lonely. But God has not gone anywhere. His love remains. His presence surrounds you, even when you can’t sense it, His Word still stands.
So lift your head today and be encouraged. As you walk through whatever this season holds, remember this: You are not forgotten. You are not forsaken. You are fiercely loved by a faithful God and He has no intention of letting you go.
With love,
Amanda
