When God is at work, there is a clarity that brings peace. His presence is unmistakable. His guidance brings light to confusion, hope to despair, and a deep sense of assurance to the heart. You know it’s Him, because even in uncertainty, His Spirit brings calm. God never operates in secrecy or manipulation. He leads with grace, confirms with peace, and builds you up in love.
But when the enemy is plotting, it’s never obvious. Deception doesn’t come loudly or with flashing lights. It begins subtly, almost gently. A wrong idea starts to sound reasonable. A distorted thought begins to make logical sense. Something that was never from God begins to wear the disguise of wisdom. That’s what makes the enemy so dangerous. He is a master of illusion.
The devil knows how to take a fragment of truth and wrap it around a lie. He’ll present something that sounds almost right, just close enough to truth to make you lean in. But underneath is a snare designed to steal, kill, and destroy. Sometimes, he will even speak through those you love and trust. Not because they are evil, but because they too can be used if not spiritually alert.
It will come as a careless word from family, or a wounded remark from a friend. Words that lodge deep in the soul and quietly shape your beliefs about yourself. You begin to live out a lie, not even realizing how far it has drawn you away from who God says you are.
This is why we must be vigilant. The Bible warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:14, “Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” Deception does not always come with darkness; sometimes it looks like wisdom, feels like safety, or comes through the voice of someone you care about. But anything that contradicts the voice of God and the truth of His Word must be confronted.
Guard your heart. Be prayerful always.
Ask God for discernment.
Don’t accept every thought, suggestion, or opinion as truth. Not every ‘good idea’ is a God idea. The enemy needs only a small entrance like a single wound, an unresolved hurt, a lingering insecurity or trauma to begin his work.
But you do not have to live deceived.
Remember who you are – You are a child of the Most High God. You were created with intention, crafted with love, and destined for purpose. God did not waste time or breath on a failure. Everything about you was made with meaning.
So reject every lie, silence every voice that does not echo your Father’s and walk boldly in the truth that sets you free.
With love,
Amanda
