Matthias was not one of the original twelve disciples. He was not a headline name in the Gospels. He didn’t walk on water, preach to crowds, or perform miracles that we know of. But when the time came to replace Judas, two men were brought forward – Joseph and Matthias. Both had walked with Jesus from the beginning, both had been faithful, even in the shadows and in that moment of divine selection, it was Matthias who was chosen.
I love this story. What it teaches us is that faithfulness, even when hidden, is never wasted. There is always room for Matthias. There is always space in God ’ s plan for those who serve quietly, consistently, and wholeheartedly.
Search your heart today! Are you living a life that would position you to be chosen? If a door opened today, would your name be among those considered? Would you be seen as trustworthy, faithful, and ready? Or would you be absent, not because you lacked skill, but because you were not present, not faithful, not available?
Matthias did not serve in order to be seen. He followed Jesus with no thought of promotion. He showed up. He served sincerely and when the time came, his name was called. Joseph was equally faithful, but Matthias was God’s choice. That does not make Joseph any less, it simply reminds us that every act of service and obedience matters, whether or not it leads to public recognition.
Today, let this story encourage you. If you have been walking with Jesus quietly, faithfully, and without applause, do not lose heart. There is room for you. There is a role for you. There is an appointed time for your name to be called.
This is more than a Bible moment, this is a life principle. In your career, in your ministry, in your relationships, choose faithfulness. Choose devotion over display. Serve in the shadows if that is where God has placed you. Because the God who sees in secret knows when to bring you into the light.
You do not need to chase titles. You do not need to manufacture your moment. Just follow Jesus. Just stay the course and when the time comes, if it is your season, your name will be called.
There is room for Matthias.
There is room for you!
With Love,
Amanda
